CLOSING SPEECH

M. NİHAT ÖMEROĞLU (Chief Ombudsman of Turkey )-
Esteemed colleagues from Turkey and abroad,

Distinguished guests and fellows,
Esteemed member of press,
Ladies and Gentlemen,

I would like to greet you all.
I would like to thank you for having honored the 3 International
rd
Symposium of Ombudsman intuitions that we have just concluded.
It has been a long and comprehensive session and I am happy for
that. Yet, I skipped the question of the chair that missed my attention.
That means I asked a lot of questions. Sorry for that Mr. Chair and
esteemed participants.
As you do know, my organization is 3 years old and just crawling. In
this due course, I and my friends really deployed huge efforts and tried
to achieve a certain level by exceeding our capacity. Within this short 3 rd INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON OMBUDSMAN INSTITUTIONS
period of time, we tried to finish 4 international projects. We are about
to complete 2 of them while the other two are in progress. As you can
appreciate, it is not an easy task to do so.

First of all, I would like to extend my heart-felt gratitude in your
presence to Prof. Zehra Odyakmaz who is with us today for having
vested a lot efforts in the establishment of this organization and the
enactment of its law.

Once again, I would like to thank her for sharing her experiences with
us on the occasion of this symposium.

Furthermore, I want to thank Mr. Diamandouros, who worked as the
ombudsman of Europe for many years and always elected unanimously.
Personally, he is my role model and thank you for attending this event
for the third time with your valuable inputs. He has always been of
great help to us in filling legislative and institutional gaps.
