Excellency Mr. President,

Distinguished Guests,
Now I would like to invite Mr. Nihat Ömeroğlu, Turkish Ombudsman,
to deliver his opening remarks.
Mr. Ömeroğlu, floor is yours sir.

M.NİHAT ÖMEROĞLU (Turkish Ombudsman)-
Honorable President,
Esteemed Guests,

Before I start my talk, let me condemn the terrorist attacks engaged
against social peace and fraternity in order to violate right of life of
Turkish citizens and extend my condolences to the law enforcement
officers and their families and wish good health and well-being to the
vetereans and the ones who are wounded.
In addition, I would like to draw your attention once again to
extraordinary efforts deployed by Turkey so as to resolve the tragedy
of millions of Syrian refugees who are pushed to leave their country
for more than four years and have been appearing lately in the
global agenda now due to their influx to Europe and I want to invite
international community to take an initiative about this mater.

Within the scope of the constitutional referandum in 2010 that is one of
the major steps vis-à-vis the democratic reform process, his excellency
Mr. President enabled the establishment of Turkish Ombudsman
Institution as a constitutional structure and granted his full support
from the moment of its establishment. So, I would like to extend
my heartfelt gratitude and greetings for honoring the International
Ombudsman Symposium.
Furthermore, on behalf of my organization and myself, I would like
welcome Speaker of Turkish Parliament who is with us on this occasion
as well as the heads and the members of the high courts, members
of parliament and colleagues from 26 countries, his Excellencies
ambassadors, members of press and all guests.
