as this is the case in many parts of the world. Efforts and actions of
Turkish Ombudsman are followed up by the EU as well as international
organizations and institutions and assessed through regular reports.

Such encouragement demonstrates that the efforts deployed during
the establishment of Turkish Ombudsman and the upcoming period,
were noted down by international organizations.
It was also recorded and underlined in the EU Progress Report of
2014 on Turkey that our recommendations are in compliance with the
judgements of the ECtHR.
By furthering our works, it is aimed to contribute to the negotiations
about the actions of Turkey, in relation to Chapter 23 of judiciary and
fundamental rights.

In order to augment efficiency in our activities and to translate
international best practices into Turkey, various international projects
are being implemented at the moment.

The 3 International Ombudsman Symposium is financed by SIDA and

organized within the framework of `Strengthening the Institutional
Capacity of Ombudsman Institution Project` for which we cooperate
with the UNDP Turkey. 3 rd INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON OMBUDSMAN INSTITUTIONS

Within this scope, so as to strengthen the existing capacity of our
organization, I would like to thank Mr. Malhotra, the Resident
Representative of the United Nations for his close cooperation and
support for the project launched in May and Excellency Lars Wahlund,
Ambassador of Sweden.

I believe that we will increase awareness about Ombudsman Institution
via international projects that we engage and many more issues will be
resolved.
While concluding my remarks, I would like extend heartfelt gratitude on
behalf of myself and my organization to Mr. President for his valuable
support during 3 years since the establishment of our organization and
thank all valuable speakers and participants for their valuable support.
Let me once again express how pleased I am in hosting colleagues
from 26 countries.
