Because of not having the Farsi interpretation to English we have got
some problem for connection so I express my apologies first of all and
I will continue with the lecture and presentation of Excellency to you.
I am very delighted to speak about the legal status and the role of
the General Inspection Organization of Islamic Republic of Iran and
the administration system of my respective country to make you
familiar with the organization and exchange experience. I would like
to inform you that the inspection and supervision regime in Iran was
established after the constitutional revolution. In 1929 the national
consulted assembly of parliament approved the establishment of the
National Inspection Board which later change the name 1934 to the
National General Inspection Organization. After sometime the general
department of the inspection was set up under the auspices of the
Ministry of Justice to conduct inspection on the administrative and
judicial departments of the country. In 1954 the Supervision Supreme
Council was formed to assist the General Department Inspection and
in 1958 it was replaced with a Royal Inspection Organization after the
victory of the Islamic Republic of Iran at 1979 the GIO was founded
and another similar organization were ordered by the Supreme
Council of the Revolution. With the approval of Iranian constitution
GIO was considered by the Article 174 of the constitution after country
inspection organization. 3 rd INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON OMBUDSMAN INSTITUTIONS
Distinguished guests and participants, I would like to refer to the
responsibility of GIO of Iran regarding ombudsman ship and protection
of the citizen rights, preventive measures as well as the rights of
the people and confrontation with economic and administrative
corruption. I would also refer to the special judicial authority of the
organization as ex officio. I will conclude my statement by explaining
the function and the duties of the GIO. So, I will start from the legal
status of GIO of Iran which has been stipulated in Article 174 of the
Iranian constitution, based on that the GIO of Iran shall be form under
the auspices of Chief of the Judiciary in the line with its supervisory duty
and to assure the good performance of the government organization
in a proper execution of law. In this respect the Iranian parliament
ratify the rules and the regulation of the GIO of Iran in 1981 when it
was established, such rules and regulations were amended twice in
