broke all windows; all these acts are inadmissible. While Turkey
restores and constructs all worshipping places of different creeds,
running into such things really bothers us significantly and I worry that
such incidences may trigger some negative things globally.
First of all, I need to highlight the importance of refugee issue. Our
friends in Europe must be sure that: ultimate destination of the
refugees ending up at your borders is not your country; it is their
country of origin in fact. These people would like to get back to their
country but their country of origin is in a condition that is not livable
anymore. Solution to the refugee issue is not to shut down the border
gates, placing burbled wires or building walls. The main solution is to
enable the conflicts to come to an end in their hometowns as soon as
possible and to encourage an administration that will give an ear to
the public voice and demands. Then, these people will have no reason
or whatsoever to end up neither at our borders nor those in European
countries. Any step to be made without seeing the main reason behind
the refugee issue and generating any suitable solutions will not prevent
new scenes that bother the conscience of humanity.
As I have just mentioned, we cannot continue to watch anymore
the bodies of children, women and men washing the shores of the
Mediterranean and the Aegean and losing their life due to a journey 3 rd INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON OMBUDSMAN INSTITUTIONS
of despair.

Now that the issue in Syria is related with the current regime and the
atrocities engaged by the Syrian government against its people are so
obvious, it is remorseless to look at this picture from the standpoint of
power balance and political calculations. For instance, some countries
still send aircrafts to Syria and assistance to the Syrian regime goes on.
Yet, when Mr. Tayyip Erdoğan raises this issue, Turkish Ambassador
is called upon to be given a nudge like “why such a statement is
made”. Your representatives say that, not you’re your representative
say that “we are behind Esat” and they send aircrafts and weapons,
monetary assistance is provided. These are the details that we have
identified. They also state that in an open fashion and even raise that
at international meetings.
In fact, such a situation requires attention of an Ombudsman institution
and how could it be done? That is the issue. Although whatever Turkey
