with disability should receive additional rights or benefits so called
positive discrimination and most of the respondents in all 85% were
understanding nothing that additional support for disabled person is
necessary. How do you evaluate discrimination against people with
disabilities? Same the survey showed that the majority of society is
against discrimination of disabled persons so almost 79% are persons
are against discrimination. So, would you feel comfortable if person
with disabilities was your colleague or your fellow student? And most of
the respondents indicate they would rather feel uncomfortable about
fellow colleagues with disabilities. Do you think translation in television
is disturbing? Most of the respondents noted that translation doesn’t
make any inconveniency. Similar question was asked to the disabled
persons in order to know how they feel about it. This slide shows some
municipalities and activities of municipalities.
And in concluding there you can see three slides with activities as good
examples that our municipalities have performed. I will mention some
most important of them. The most accessible city in Europe 140 cities
in Latvia, Project Library comes to reader open championship in chess
table, tennis for people with disabilities, financial support for studies
in university outside gym in city parks, financial support for business
projects in the competition for young entrepreneurs, employment
in local municipality, Christmas charity event, charity event from 3 rd INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON OMBUDSMAN INSTITUTIONS
her to her for children with disabilities for health procedures and
rehabilitation, improvement of accessibility yearly according to
application from people with disability, sport activities, regular
trainings with professional teachers, swimming pool for free, sport
games, yearly trips for people with disabilities, 50% discount for social
services, parent salary for rehabilitation courses including interest
related education, this is in brief. But more extend information on
results of monitoring will be available at the end of this year when
annual ombudsman conference will take place. Thank you very much
